Rick Perry Calls It Quits

After weeks of rumors and one very public spat with Donald Trump about the status of his campaign, Rick Perry announced on Friday he is suspending all election activity.

Perry has struggled since his official announcement to gain traction among the 17-wide GOP presidential field in which he failed to break out of single digit support both nationally and in the early primary states.

Haunted by the memory of a one-word gaffe, Perry was ultimately unable to overcome the reputation from his 2008 bid as an error prone candidate.

Reports from campaign insiders revealed that Perry had only raised $100,000 in the last two months and that after only raising one million in the first quarter.

Analysts have been speculating for weeks that an end to Perry’s campaign was nigh after his operations both in Iowa and New Hampshire had come to a near halt citing financial constraints.

Almost immediately, Perry’s campaign staff and donors were swarmed by other candidates’ operations hoping to pick off key personnel and financial support from the former Texas governor’s campaign.
