According to a report issued to a Senate subcommittee on immigration by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency, the Obama administration has approved more than 664,000 applications for amnesty to illegal immigrants since 2012.
Citing the provision in DACA, the agency also revealed it continues to approve more than 140,000 additional applications per month.
The revelation promises further to inflame the debate over immigration and border security which remains at a peak after a series of criminal acts in so-called sanctuary cities.
According to a CNN poll release last week, Americans are divided along party lines by a 60-30 split in terms of whether to focus on regularization of immigrants versus border security.
