The Top 10 Most Important Stories You Need To Know This Week

It’s been a busy week with news, entertainment, and politics!

Here are the ten most important stories you need to know heading into the weekend:

10. “Golden Bachelor Divorces After Just 3 Months

The “Golden Bachelor” Gerry Turner and his wife are getting divorced just months after marrying on the popular “reality” show.

According to NBC News:

“The Golden Bachelor” Gerry Turner and his wife, Theresa Nist, announced Friday they are divorcing three months after their televised wedding.

“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion, mutually, that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” Turner, 72, said on “Good Morning America.”

The pair tied the knot in a televised ceremony in January after meeting last fall on the first season of “The Golden Bachelor,” a spinoff of the long-running ABC dating reality show “The Bachelor.”

9. OJ Dies At 76

Heisman winner and actor OJ Simpson—who was controversially acquitted of killing his ex-wife and her boyfriend in arguably the biggest trial in American history—has died.

According to The AP:

” O.J. Simpson, the football star and Hollywood actor acquitted of charges he killed his former wife and her friend in a trial that mesmerized the public and exposed divisions on race and policing in America, has died. He was 76.

The family announced on Simpson’s official X account that he died Wednesday of prostate cancer. He died in Las Vegas, officials there said Thursday.

Simpson earned fame, fortune and adulation through football and show business, but his legacy was forever changed by the June 1994 knife slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman in Los Angeles. He was later found liable for the deaths in a separate civil case, and then served nine years in prison on unrelated charges.”

8. Chaos At NPR After Senior Editor Blows Whistle On Liberal Bias

National Public Radio is in turmoil after a Senior Editor—a Democrat himself— wrote an article detailing how radically left the station has become in the Trump era..

According to The New York Times:

“NPR is facing both internal tumult and a fusillade of attacks by prominent conservatives this week after a senior editor publicly claimed the broadcaster had allowed liberal bias to affect its coverage, risking its trust with audiences.

Uri Berliner, a senior business editor who has worked at NPR for 25 years, wrote in an essay published Tuesday by The Free Press, a popular Substack publication, that “people at every level of NPR have comfortably coalesced around the progressive worldview.”

Mr. Berliner, a Peabody Award-winning journalist, castigated NPR for what he said was a litany of journalistic missteps around coverage of several major news events, including the origins of Covid-19 and the war in Gaza. He also said the internal culture at NPR had placed race and identity as “paramount in nearly every aspect of the workplace.”

Mr. Berliner’s essay has ignited a firestorm of criticism of NPR on social media, especially among conservatives who have long accused the network of political bias in its reporting.”

7. House Passes Domestic Surveillance Bill

After facing weeks of difficulty, the US House has passed another domestic spying authorization bill. The controversial legislation is viewed as a win for Speaker Mike Johnson.

According to Fox News:

“A bill to renew a key federal government surveillance tool, known as Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), passed the House of Representatives on Friday, about a week before it is set to expire.

However, House Freedom Caucus conservatives and their allies have blocked the bill from heading to the Senate. In the dramatic moments after its passage, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., raised a procedural measure objecting to the final vote count, which was then countered by the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Laurel Lee, R-Fla., and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner, R-Ohio.

Now, the House must vote on whether to reconsider passage of Section 702 on Monday, shortening the Senate’s timeline to consider the bill before its expiry on April 19.”

6. Illegals Fight With Police In New York

A group of illegals was caught on video this week fighting with police officers at a “hotel shelter.”

According to The New York Post:

“Newly released police bodycam footage captures the moment cops in Yonkers are forced to scuffle with a group of rowdy migrants at a local hotel packed with asylum seekers.

Police busted two people during the Tuesday afternoon melee at a local Ramada Inn — but not before they were surrounded and berated in Spanish by an unruly migrant mob, the footage shows.

Cops were called to the hotel shortly before 1 p.m. on reports of an out-of-control guest.

“The guy is over here unruly,” a Ramada employee said during a 911 call. “He’s being very violent with everybody. He’s throwing stuff at everybody. We need somebody here right away.”

5. President Trump Visits Chick Fil A

President Trump visited Chick Fil A in Atlanta this week, even being hugged by a passionate black supporter who says she is sick of how the media covers Trump.

According to Fox News:

A Trump supporter who met the former president at an Atlanta Chick-fil-A spoke out Friday against the media’s coverage of Black voters, accusing mainstream outlets of “warping” the perception about Trump’s popularity in the community.

Conserve the Culture founder Michaelah Montgomery, who went viral Wednesday when she hugged Trump during his visit to the restaurant, joined “FOX & Friends” to discuss the exchange.

“The general consensus or social media would have you thinking that if President Trump were to show up to the HBCU [Historically Black Colleges and Universities] campuses … that like, some angry mob would form or a riot would ensue and that he would not be welcome, and clearly the sentiment in that room the other day was the complete opposite,” Montgomery told Lawrence Jones.

“He was very welcome. People were excited to see him. People showed up in support of him, and people, of course, were from all four institutions within the AUC [Atlanta University Center], the local HBCU community in Atlanta, and they all showed up in support of him,” she continued.”

The federal government is forgiving over $7 billion in student loan debt for some borrowers.

According to CBS News:

“The Biden administration on Friday said it’s canceling $7.4 billion in student debt for 277,000 borrowers, with the recipients scheduled to receive emails today to alert them to their loan discharges.

The latest effort extends the debt relief provider under President Joe Biden after the Supreme Court last year blocked his administration’s plan for broad-based student loan forgiveness. With the latest batch of loan cancellations, the White House said it has forgiven about $153 billion in debt for 4.3 million student borrowers.

Biden, who had made student loan relief a major campaign pledge, is tackling an issue that affects about 43 million Americans with a combined  $1.7 trillion in student debt.”

3. President Trump’s First Criminal Trial Starts Next Week

President Trump’s first trial starts next week in New York City, with controversial District Attorney Alvin Bragg leading the “case” against him.

According to CNBC:

Donald Trump has used every legal tool at his disposal to try to dismiss, diminish or delay the four active criminal cases against him.

But on Monday, barring a last-minute court intervention, Trump will become the first former president ever to be tried on felony charges.

The trial in New York Supreme Court centers on allegations that Trump falsified business records as part of a scheme to conceal a $130,000 hush money payment in 2016 to porn star Stormy Daniels, who says she had an extramarital affair with Trump years earlier.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg accuses Trump of using a “catch and kill” tactic to hide damaging information from voters ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

This case may be the only one of Trump’s 88 criminal charges across four separate cases to make it to trial before the Nov. 5 presidential election.”

2. Biden Paid $1.5 Million In Criminal Legal Fees With Campaign Cash

Joe Biden used campaign donations to pay $1.5 million in fines from his classified documents investigation.

According to The Daily Mail:

“President Joe Biden used campaign donations to pay his legal bills related to the investigation of his handling of classified documents, a stunning new report revealed on Friday.

Biden and his allies have blasted rival Donald Trump for using donors’ money to pay for his massive legal bills.

But Biden is doing the same thing, Axios reported, revealing the Democratic National Committee paid more than $1.5 million to lawyers or firms representing Biden during special counsel Robert Hur probe of the president’s handling of classified documents.”

An assault from Iranian soil has emerged as one of the main scenarios expected by the Jewish state and its allies, said the people, who asked not to be identified as they aren’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
