Trump: Iranian Protesters Will Have U.S. Support at “Appropriate Time”

President Trump continued to express his support and that of the United States towards Iranians protesting the current regime in power this morning on Twitter:

According to Fox News, “[t]he Iranian regime has moved to squash protests by cutting off communication and moving to block social media platforms, as it did nine years ago during the ‘Green Movement’ of 2009.

“The [U.S.] State Department announced Tuesday that it would use Facebook and Twitter to communicate directly with Iranian protesters, posting in Farsi on the social media platforms.”

Such a response stands in stark contrast to the Obama administration’s handling of the 2009 protests in Iran.

Former Obama officials, such as Susan Rice, are even suggesting that Trump not express support for the protesters. But current White House players like Kellyanne Conway are scoffing at that, and insisting that Trump “will not be silent.”
