Trump signs order to slash federal regulations

Monday morning, President Donald Trump signed an executive order requiring that federal agencies must repeal two regulations for every one they implement.

“This will be the biggest such act that our country has ever seen,” Trump declared moments before signing it inside the Oval Office. “There will be regulation, there will be control, but it will be a normalized control where you can open your business and expand your business very easily. And that’s what our country has been all about.”

Trump further claimed the order was mostly to benefit small business, saying “We’re cutting regulations for small business – and for large business. But they’re different. For small businesses, that’s what this is all about today.”

This signing fulfills another of Trump’s campaign promises, and came after a meeting between the President and small-business leaders.
