CNN Setting Up A Fight In Second GOP Debate

Tonight’s second Republican primary debate in Simi Valley, California, promises to bring as much—perhaps even more—pomp and controversy as was issued forth in the first event.

CNN moderator Jake Tapper revealed that his intent is to “draw contrasts” and “have [the candidates] fight it out” over policy differences.

It’s a stark change in course from how the previous Fox News debate was handled in which questions were largely choreographed by the three moderators.

As a part of the format, a candidate will be encouraged to respond to answers given by another candidate in hopes of drawing them out against each other on the issue at hand.

The format promises fireworks as many of the top tier candidates will be struggling to regain ground with voters lost in recent weeks to Donald Trump.
