Report: 87% of Illegal Immigrant Families on Welfare, 72% of Legal Immigrants

According to a new study by the Center for Immigration Studies, “of illegal immigrant households with children, 87 percent access one or more welfare programs, compared to 52 percent of native households,” reports The Washington Examiner.

72 percent of legal immigrants access one or more welfare programs as well, so immigrants, regardless of legal status, are more likely to make use of them. This is likely to do with comparative lack of education and capital among immigrant families.
