Teacher threatened with fine over violating Michelle Obama’s “healthy” snack rules

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. – Williamson PreK-8 has been overwhelmed with parents and students upset over a teacher who was facing a possible fine from the West Virginia Department of Education over providing wrapped candy to her students. The candy awards were an effort by the classroom teacher to recognize and encourage her students.

Reports were made that the school was reported for violating a policy regarding nutrition and could face repercussions including a possible monetary fine. The parents immediately started a fund raiser of collecting pennies in order to pay the fine that could potentially have been imposed.
