Huckabee Poised to Announce

Styled by Politico as the ‘other man from Hope,’ former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is to be the sixth officially declared GOP candidate for president. He is expected to announce Tuesday, May 5th, at an event in Hope Arkansas.

Rekindling the every man motif used in his first bid for the White House in 2007, Huckabee will push to breathe new life into his evangelical support base. This base allowed him first place in 2008 Iowa Caucuses.

His perch as a successful Fox News host, since placing third behind Mitt Romney and the GOP nominee John McCain, has kept his name alive among the most active in the GOP primary base.

The new challenge for Huckabee is the sheer multitude of candidates vying for the evangelical base this cycle. His quick wit and down-to-earth appeal may continue to turn heads in the weeks to come ahead of the first Republican debate.
