TX GOP Chair Join Rand Paul

Sen. Rand Paul continues to build his presidential command team with no attempts at concealing his intentions for the White House.

On Thursday, the Chairman of the Texas Republican Party, Steve Munisteri, announced he’ll be leaving his post over the state party to join Rand Paul’s 2016 efforts. Munisteri said of his decision,

“He’s the only conservative candidate that I see who is reaching out to minority voters and young voters. I don’t think we can win a national election unless we do a better job of getting new people into the party. I couldn’t say no to him.”

The move is a clear snub for the budding Cruz and Perry campaign operations, both of whom might have been considered more likely as favorite-son candidates. Paul head aide Doug Stafford declared, “I am very pleased Steve will be joining our team. As a party chair in Texas, he raised the bar for grassroots engagement and performance. His experience in multiple national campaigns will be invaluable to Sen. Paul.”
