North Carolina Now in Play for Senate

In recent weeks nearly every poll in the Senate toss-up states have been trending Republican or at least held steady offering the possibility of a pick-up… except in North Carolina.

Unlike her Democrat counterparts in the other states, North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan has been able somehow to maintain a consistent lead over her Republican challenger, Thom Tillis, despite her clear association with Obama and his policies.

But the latest polls this week suggest that may be changing. A new High Point University survey shows both candidates tied at 40% with just three weeks to go until the election.

What’s more, a new SurveyUSA poll actually puts Thom Tillis a single point ahead of Hagan. These new results drop the RCP Poll average for Hagan to a mere point and a half lead, which is easily within the margin of error
