The 10 Most Vulnerable Senators

With just 8 weeks left in the 2014 midterm, control of the U.S. Senate is on the brink of switching to the GOP as more states are added to the list of ‘toss-ups.’

With 4 states already included in the guaranteed win column for the GOP, Roll Call issued its monthly ranking of the 10 most vulnerable senators.

No senator is more threatened than Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA). As we’ve reported, mounting legal challenges to her residency in the state, scandal over billing chartered campaign flights to the taxpayers and her support of Obama are weighing large.

Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR) is under the GOP gun in a state that is trending strongly Republican. Mark Begich (D-AK) is facing a tough campaign against popular state treasurer Dan Sullivan, a race in a statistical dead-heat.

Kay Hagan (D-NC), Mark Udall (D-CO), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Al Franken (D-MN) also make the list of threatened senators who, in the face of massive Republican turnout, could get the boot as well.

The only Republican on the list is Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell who holds a razor-thin lead over his opponent in Kentucky. Turnout in the state could ultimately determine the outcome of the race… and control of the Senate.
