Biden’s Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg wants a vehicle mileage tax to fund an infrastructure plan, reports CNBC.
The Biden administration’s next priority is passing an infrastructure bill. To pay for the bill, Buttigieg wants Americans to pay based on how much they drive. As of now, most infrastructure is funded based on gasoline taxes.
This tax would punish those in rural and suburban areas for living outside of a city since living there requires more travel by car. Nothing says socialism like taxing rural farmers in Iowa to pay for failed High Speed Rail projects in California and New York.
