A new JMC Analytics poll shows Danny Tarkanian has a 6-point lead over incumbent Dean Heller.

According to the poll, 44% of respondents said they would support Tarkanian, while 38% said they would support Heller.

The survey of 500 likely GOP voters in Nevada was conducted from October 24-26 with a 4.4% margin of error and 95% confidence interval.

Many establishment Republicans are worried following Arizona Senator Jeff Flake announcing he will not be seeking reelection.

Flake has been an outspoken critic of President Trump. He also trailed his primary challenger Kelli Ward in the polls by a significant margin before his announcement.

Heller could be on a similar path, as he was a Never Trumper during the 2016 election, and has stood in the way of now President Trump’s agenda on important issues like healthcare and immigration.

The new poll should be taken seriously, and not viewed as just an anomaly. Many people were shocked to see Roy Moore defeat Mitch McConnell ally Luther Strange in the Alabama Republican Primary. But JMC Analytics nailed the results prior to the election when they released a poll that had Moore ahead of Strange by 19 points.

Even if Heller opts to run for reelection, there’s no question he will face an uphill battle taking on grassroots conservatives and Trump Republicans that will oppose him every step of the way.
