Tom Cruise is saying goodbye to Beverly Hills, leaving his Cali crib for a new residence in Florida.
Cruise claims it’s to be closer to Scientology HQ, but if one takes a look at Cruise’s expected tax bill, the millions in savings may also have been a factor.
According to Forbes, Cruise has raked in $40 million so far this year.
In California, that money is taxed at 13.3% for a bill to the state of $5.3 million.
In Florida, however, the rate is 0%, meaning Cruise would be able to keep his $5.3 million payday.
To put that in perspective, while living in Cali, Cruise spends the first 16 minutes of a two hour movie working just to pay Gov. Jerry Brown and company.
According to The Daily Mail:
“Tom Cruise is unloading two of his Los Angeles properties – his Hollywood Hills spread and his Beverly Hills mansion.
And on Wednesday UsWeekly claimed to know why the 53-year-old silver screen veteran is packing his bags.
‘Tom hates living in LA and is relocating to Florida,’ a source said. ‘He thinks all the people in Hollywood are fake.’
The insider added that the Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation star also wants to be closer to the Scientology headquarters in Clearwater, Florida.
And it was fellow Scientologist John Travolta who got the Top Gun star interested in the state, the publication alleged.”
