Fiorina to Officially Launch White House Bid

Still the only female to openly consider running for the Republican presidential nomination, former HP CEO Carly Fiorina is set to formally announce her bid a week from Monday.

In contrast to public events following most announcements, the Wall Street Journal reports, Fiorina’s May 4th start will be a low maintenance event. She plans to have an ‘online announcement’ along with a conference call to press members.

The event will come amid a busy week of Republican kick-offs when Tea Party favorite Ben Carson is expected to announce in Detroit and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is said to be launching a day after.

Though Fiorina commands a meager 2% at best in any of the recent primary polls, her performance in the Iowa Freedom Summit in late January put her on the map as perhaps the only candidate who can challenge Hillary Clinton’s unique appeal as potentially the first woman president.
