With Mary Landrieu’s political demise nigh, early voting results are already coming in for the Louisiana Senate run-off in which election day is next Tuesday, and the numbers don’t look good for the last remaining Democrat senator in the south.
As expected, early voting turnout is way down from turnout numbers in the general last month. But the biggest decline is among the Democrat voter base.
According to stats released by the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office, female, black and registered Democrat voters were most likely to stay home, according to National Journal. Those three blocks are the core of the party’s supporter base.
The bulk of early votes will come in on Saturday ahead of election day, but with the numbers already in, Landrieu will need a landslide both in terms of turnout and vote percentage to make up for what is already lacking.
