As if Democrats didn’t have enough problems on their hands, Republicans are taking advantage of every political gift Barack Obama is giving them. And now there’s another to unwrap.
It’s no secret Obama has remained hidden from the campaign trail, and his offer to several incumbent candidates for campaign appearances have gone unaccepted. Voters in every single Senate toss-up state have gone sour on the president, and his presence only further drags down the positives for his party’s candidates.
Apparently Obama just can’t help himself. To wit, in an interview with Al Sharpton Obama explained that while he’s clearly not making appearances, he has a gentleman’s agreement with his embattled Democrat pals.
Responding to Al Sharpton’s question, Obama explains, “The bottom line is, though, these are are all folks who vote with me; they have supported my agenda in Congress. So this isn’t about my feelings being hurt. These are folks who are strong allies and supporters of me. I tell them — I said, you do what you need to do to win. I will be responsible for making sure that our voters turn out.”
