New Baggage for Hillary: Saul Alinsky Letters

Thought Benghazi was enough baggage to cast serious doubt on Hillary’s bid for the White House? The latest scandal to break could be worse.

Letters written by Hillary to Saul Alinsky — the left-wing radical who serves as the inspiration for much of the hard left in the Democrat Party — including President Obama – were recently obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, which reveal a personal relationship much deeper than Hillary has let on in her books.

After graduating from Yale Law School, Hillary moved to Berkeley, California, to intern at a well-known left-wing law firm. While there she wrote to Alinsky, with whom she had developed a close relationship: “I am living in Berkeley and working in Oakland for the summer and would love to see you. Let me know if there is any chance of our getting together.”

Lest there be any doubt about the reciprocation of those sentiments, Alinksy’s long-time secretary, Georgia Harper, replied on his behalf, “Since I know [Alinsky’s] feelings about you I took the liberty of opening your letter because I didn’t want something urgent to wait for two weeks. And I’m glad I did.”

Harper continued, “Mr. Alinsky will be in San Francisco, staying at the Hilton Inn at the airport on Monday and Tuesday, July 26 and 27. I know he would like to have you call him so that if there is a chance in his schedule maybe you can get together.”

These new sordid details will continue to challenge the reputation and motivation Hillary has attempted to create for herself as a center-of-the-road, practical leader. That Saul Alinsky was the source of inspiration for Hillary’s radical ideas could come back to haunt her on the road to the White House in 2016.
