Democrat Sues to Keep KS Senate Seat Hot

The battle for Sen. Pat Roberts’ long-time seat in the upper house continues to intrigue after being the 10th state in the growing list of RealClearPolitics‘ ‘toss-ups.’

Last week, the Democrat nominee for Senate Chad Taylor abruptly ended his campaign, a move which many are speculating was calculated to boost the campaign of Independent candidate Greg Orman who polls show could beat the incumbent Republican in a head-to-head matchup.

But when Chad Taylor petitioned to have his name removed from the November ballot, Republican Secretary of State Kris Kobach rejected the request citing legal requirements.

The implications of Taylor’s presence on the ballot is clear: a small margin of votes for him would pull from Orman and possibly may throw the election to Roberts. To wit, Taylor has filed suit against Secretary Kobach in the Kansas Supreme Court to have his name removed from the ballot, reports The Wichita Eagle.
