It’s been a busy week with news, sports, and politics!
Here are the ten most important stories you need to know as the new week begins:

10. Missing Surfers Found Dead In Mexico
The 3 missing surfers vacationing in Mexico have been found dead.
“Mexican authorities have located three bodies in the state of Baja California where one American and two Australian tourists were reported missing, the local prosecutor’s office said in a statement late on Friday.
Australian brothers Callum, 33, and Jake Robinson, 30, and American Carter Rhoad, 30, were last seen on April 27, the Baja California state prosecutor’s office previously announced. It referred to the missing American as Jack Carter Rhoad. Forensic tests on the remains will be conducted by a state laboratory which will allow for positive identification of the bodies, the prosecutor’s office said in its statement.
Investigators continue to search the rugged area where the bodies were found for additional evidence, the statement added.”

9. Mayhem On I-95 After Tanker Crash
I-95 in is closed in both directions in Connecticut after a huge explosion.
“A part of Interstate 95 in Connecticut will remain shut down at least through this weekend following a gas tanker crash that caused a fire to erupt and damaged an overpass on Thursday, May 2. The fiery crash involved a tractor-trailer, the fuel truck and another vehicle, according to NBC affiliate WVIT. There were no injuries from the crash and the fire.
“This could have been so much worse. We’re very grateful that nobody was seriously injured,” said Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling, according to the CT Examiner.
The Hartford Courant reported that about 4,000 gallons of fuel spilled and burned, while the rest was taken off the truck, per a state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection spokesperson.”

8. Mystik Dan Wins Kentucky Derby In Historic “Photo Finish”
Mystik Dan pulled off one of the closest wins in the history of the Kentucky Derby this weekend.
“Lightly regarded Mystik Dan scored a thrilling upset at the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, winning by a nose and bringing a career Triple Crown to trainer Kenny McPeek.
Rail-riding Mystik Dan stuck his snout in front of second favorite Sierra Leone and Forever Young for the dramatic three-horse photo-finish victory that took several minutes to hash out.
He was listed at 20-1 on the morning line and fans showed a little bit more faith in him, betting him down to 18-1 by the start.”

7. Autistic Teen Missing Since February Possibly Spotted In North Carolina
Sebastian Rogers, who has been missing from his Tennessee home since February, may have been spotted at a North Carolina rest area.
“A possible picture of missing autistic teen Sebastian Rogers has been circulating social media, more than two months after he went missing.
The picture was reportedly taken at a visitors’ center in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.
The snapshot, which was taken by a woman at the rest stop, very strongly resembles the missing teen, 15, who went missing from his Hendersonville home on February 26, barefoot with just a flashlight.
The woman later turned the picture into the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations and her friend posted the picture online.”

6. Huckabee Says Arkansas Won’t Comply With New Federal Trans Rules
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders says her state will not comply with new rules on trans
“Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders declared Thursday that the state won’t comply with a federal regulation that seeks to protect the rights of transgender students in the nation’s schools, joining other Republican-led states that are defying the new rules.
Sanders signed an executive order stating that Arkansas schools will continue to enforce restrictions on which bathrooms and pronouns transgender students can use, laws that could be invalidated by the new regulations on how to enforce Title IX.
“My message to Joe Biden and the federal government is we will not comply,” Sanders said at a news conference at the state Capitol.
The regulation finalized last month seeks to clarify Title IX, a landmark 1972 sex discrimination law originally passed to address women’s rights and applied to schools and colleges receiving federal money. The regulations spell out that Title IX bars discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, too. Sanders called those changes a complete reinterpretation of the law.”

5. Republicans Try To Stop Nevada Mail Ins Received After Election Day From Being Counted
The RNC has filed a lawsuit in an attempt to stop ballots received after Election Day from being counted.
“The Republican National Committee on Friday filed a federal lawsuit seeking to prevent Nevada from counting mail ballots received after Election Day, as the state’s law currently permits.
The law, passed by Democrats in 2021, permits the tallying of mail ballots received up to four days after Election Day, provided the envelopes are postmarked before the end of the day. The lawsuit says the provision also assumes that envelopes received three days after Election Day that don’t have a postmark indicating otherwise were posted in time.
Republicans contend this violates the U.S. Constitution’s requirement that there be a single day for Election Day.
“Nevada’s ballot receipt deadline clearly violates federal law and undermines election integrity in the state,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in a statement. “Ballots received days after Election Day should not be counted.”

4. Campus Israel Protests Are Funded By Gates And Soros
Anti Israeli protests continue at Universities across America, disrupting final exams and graduations in some cases. And they’re being funded by George Soros, Bill Gates, and other wealthy Democrats!
“President Joe Biden has been dogged for months by pro-Palestinian protesters calling him “Genocide Joe” — but some of the groups behind the demonstrations receive financial backing from philanthropists pushing hard for his reelection.
The donors include some of the biggest names in Democratic circles: Gates, Soros, Rockefeller and Pritzker, according to a POLITICO analysis.
Two of the main organizers behind protests at Columbia University and on other campuses are Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow. Both are supported by the Tides Foundation, which is seeded by Democratic megadonor George Soros as well as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and it in turn supports numerous small nonprofits that work for social change.”

3. MTG Calls For Vote To Remove Speaker Johnson
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling for a vote to get rid of House Speaker Mike Johnson.
“GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced Wednesday she will force a vote over House Speaker Mike Johnson’s ouster next week – a move that comes after Democrats have said they will vote to kill the effort and ensure Johnson doesn’t lose his job.
“I think every member of Congress needs to take that vote and let the chips fall where they may and so next week, I am going to be calling this motion to vacate. Absolutely, calling it,” she said at a news conference.
Greene’s decision puts an end to weeks of speculation over whether she would move forward to trigger the consequential vote. The move escalates pressure on Johnson and sets up a major showdown on the House floor, even though the vote is expected to fail.”

2. President Trump’s New York Trial Continues
President Trump’s trial continued in New York this week, with Hope Hicks taking the stand for the Prosecution.
“In a trial that turns on a hush money payment to a porn star, Donald Trump loyalist Hope Hicks offered emotional testimony Friday that portrayed him as a family man.
The testimony of Hicks, Trump’s former communications aide for his 2016 presidential campaign and his White House communications director, marked perhaps the first boost to Trump’s defense since the trial started — even though she was called to the stand by the prosecution.
Hicks was one of the most highly anticipated witnesses of the trial, which has now finished its third week. She spoke softly in her first few moments on the stand, admitting she was nervous.
Trump’s lawyers have argued that Trump’s motivation in seeking to silence the accounts of two women — former Playboy model Karen McDougal and porn star Stormy Daniels — who claimed sexual encounters with him wasn’t to help his 2016 presidential campaign, as prosecutors have alleged, but instead to protect his family. The motive is important because, in trying to convict Trump of 34 felonies, prosecutors are seeking to link allegedly fraudulent business records with violations of election law.”

1. Frat Boys Defends American Flag From Insane Mob
“Patriotic frat boys valiantly protected an American flag on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill even while being pelted by water bottles from pro-Palestine protestors.
Footage emerged on social media showing the group of male students from the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity holding onto the stars and stripes during a Tuesday protest. Pro-Palestine groups lobbed bottles of water at the group who clutched the flag as they were screamed at by masked protestors.
One person was seen carrying an Israel flag as others threw objects and water at him as the group held the flag high so as not let it touch the ground.”
