Top Biden ally, Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) is advocating for the president’s Supreme Court pick to be judge Michelle Childs of South Carolina.

However, many progressives are concerned about the moderate pick due to her past work as a corporate lawyer.

While she has the support of many important Democratic seat holders, like Jim Clyburn and Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), she will still have some work to do.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) would not comment on the possible pick.

Democrats are calling for a judge who more closely represents the average working American, and Childs’ past work as a corporate lawyer is cause for concern that she won’t have the right perspective to hold the position in it’s best.

Biden could chose a stronger Democratic pick, but Republicans would be more likely to oppose which would be concerning to the Democrats because they hold only 50 Senate seats.

The White House says the decision will be made this month, and Judge Childs is not off the table.
