Senator Kamala Harris has officially ended her campaign for president.
The junior senator from California cited a lack of funding going into 2020 as the reason for her withdrawal. While showing sparks of momentum, the Harris campaign never got off the ground. Recent attacks by other candidates on her record as a prosecutor eroded her support among Democrats.
Harris’s departure from the race gives other candidates a new pool of supporters to try and woo. Her most recent polling average showed that only 3.4% of Democratic primary voters supported Harris, leaving the race wide open.
