50 million Facebook accounts have been breached in a hack, the company announced Friday afternoon.
The issue was discovered earlier this week.
According to The Hill:
“Facebook revealed on Friday that it discovered hackers had breached the accounts of 50 million users.
“We’re taking this incredibly seriously and wanted to let everyone know what’s happened and the immediate action we’ve taken to protect people’s security,” Guy Rosen, Facebook’s vice president of product management, said in a blog post.
Rosen said that the social network had notified law enforcement. The breach was discovered on Tuesday.”
