See Trump’s tweets on migrant “Caravans;” blasts Dems and Congress for weak immigration laws and policy fumbles

A literal caravan of over 1,000 of Central American migrants, mostly from Honduras, is heading in the direction of the U.S. southern border. While some plan to flee unrest in their home countries by staying in Mexico, many are attempting to enter the United States. Unsurprisingly, the president had thoughts to share on the subject on Sunday and Monday morning.

President Trump highlighted the failings of the “catch-and-release” policy that has enabled illegal immigrants with criminal violations to remain in the U.S. He also reiterated Congress’ years-long failure to enact meaningful immigration reform and strengthen border security:

“Last month, Congress passed a $1.3 trillion funding package that included $1.6 billion in border wall spending. But much of that money can only be used to repair existing segments, not build new sections. Congress also put restrictions on the types of barriers that can be built,” according to a Fox News report.
