Gorsuch Sworn In To Supreme Court

After a challenging confirmation process,  Justice Neil Gorsuch has been sworn in to the Supreme Court, taking over the late Antonin Scalia’s seat. Chief Justice John Roberts headed a private ceremony where Gorsuch took the Constitutional Oath, alongside his wife and daughters. Gorsuch then took the Judicial Oath in a public ceremony at the White House.

Washington Examiner adds, “Gorsuch, a former law clerk to Justice Anthony Kennedy, fills the vacancy created by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. The high court has been without a ninth justice for more than a year as the result of partisan bickering over the empty slot. After Republicans refused to hold a hearing or vote on former President Barack Obama’s nominee, Judge Merrick Garland, Democrats sought to thwart President Trump’s pick, Gorsuch, via a filibuster.”
