President Trump will meet with China’s President Xi Jinping at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida next month. This will be their first in-person meetup since Trump took office. The pair did share a brief phone call right after Trump was inaugurated. The meeting is tentatively scheduled for April 6th – April 7th, reported by Axios.
The Wasington Examiner adds, “Trump frequently criticized the Chinese government during the campaign and provoked a panicked response from Beijing when he accepted a congratulatory call from the Taiwanese president following his election. Trump said he believed the “one China” policy, which recognizes Taiwan as a part of China, was up for negotiation but he later backed off that statement.”
