Paul Pushing Amendment to Defund Planned Parenthood Around Leadership

Rand Paul is looking to circumvent Senate leadership and apparently fellow Kentucky senator and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in an effort to defund Planned Parenthood now in light of the disgusting videos released in the past few days.

Reportedly Senator Paul is attempting to offer an amendment to the highway bill that would defund the organization of its taxpayer dollars. He is also pushing for an amendment which would arm servicemen and women on military bases.

From Breitbart:

Paul has been speaking out on both of these subjects for quite some time, and since the Senate is now taking up what is considered a “must pass” piece of legislation, funding the country’s highway and mass transit systems—a massive bill that spends hundreds of billions of dollars over the next 10 years—it’s an opportunity for senators to get things onto it that can further whatever their agenda might be.

But whoever is presiding over the Senate is not recognizing Paul or allowing him to offer the amendments, instead using an old Harry Reid tactic called “filling the tree” by which they block all amendments that would otherwise be offered.

Paul is now apparently circulating a petition to go around Senate leadership and ensure the amendments are offered.
