Rand Paul Introduces Bill to Crack Down on Sanctuary Cities

Recent headlines of illegal-immigrant crime and an escaped Mexican drug lord continue to validate Republican criticism of current immigration policies both at the federal and local levels.

That reality coupled with Donald Trump’s controversial comments on the campaign trail have brought the issue back to the fore of political debate. And now Sen. Rand Paul is taking advantage of the opportunity.

Last week, Paul introduced a new bill in the Senate that would severely inhibit so-called ‘sanctuary cities’ across the country in their efforts to refuse cooperation with federal immigration officials.

The bill, Protecting American Citizens Together Act (PACT), specifically will require that state and local authorities inform U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents immediately upon the arrest of an illegal alien.
