A day after Republican leaders assured that the Senate had enough votes to approve the bill to fast-track the TPP trade deal, so-called Obamatrade, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) came out with guns blazing against her party’s president, the Huffington Post reports.
President Obama received criticism from among his own ranks in recent weeks after publicly criticizing Warren for her leadership of the progressive opposition to the deal.
Renewing her criticism, Warren detailed the history of American failure to enforce trade agreements in which more than half of trade partners with the U.S. have not been held accountable for violations.
Warren leads a coalition of mostly Democrat members of Congress and union and environmental leaders who are aiming to undercut approval in the House ahead of a vote on the Senate fast-track bill.
