A lawsuit brought by watchdog group Judicial Watch against the State Department for Freedom of Information Access to emails related to the ongoing Benghazi investigation has borne more fruit.
Revealed in the raft of new emails the State Department was forced to turn over, it was imminently clear through communication between officials on the scene in Benghazi and Washington that the attacks on the embassy were at the hands of terrorists.
Specifically, only minutes after the attacks began, then-Secretary Hillary Clinton and her aides at the DOS were informed by embassy officials that they were undergoing a terrorist attack. What’s more, within two hours of the events’ onslaught, an al-Qaeda affiliate had already claimed credit for the attack, National Review reports.
The new details come in direct conflict with the Obama Administration’s repeated insistence for days and weeks after the attack that it was merely a result of protest against an obscure anti-Muslim Youtube video.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton blasted in the press conference revealing the new evidence, “It is inescapable that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton knowingly lied when she planted the false story about ‘inflammatory material being posted on the Internet.’”
Clinton demanded angrily in her congressional testimony over Benghazi “What difference does it make?” These new revelations at the outset of the 2016 election cycle may offer an unwanted reply to the question.
