Scott and Crist Spar… Over A Fan

The fight for the Florida governor’s mansion continues in a dead heat between former governor Charlie Crist and current Gov. Rick Scott. And the race this week turned to the bizarre.

On Wednesday night, the two were set to debate on primetime network television, except the debate got off to a late start… over an argument about a fan. Apparently, the debate rules prohibited any electronics being used on-stage.

According to copious reports, Republican-turned-Independent-turned-Democrat Charlie Crist insists on a small fan being placed at his feet and pointed toward his face because, as one aide explained, “he can’t be seen sweating.”

Enter Republican Rick Scott’s campaign which, according to reports, protested over the use of the fan refusing to take the stage if the fan was insisted upon by the Crist camp.

When asked by moderators for an explanation for the delay, Scott retorted on camera that he was simply waiting on Crist to decide he was going to debate, with or without the fan.

Later the Scott campaign circulated a memo entitled ‘The Crist Hits the Fan’ in which it declared, “Charlie Crist can bring his fan, microwave, and toaster to debates – none of that will cover up how sad his record as governor was compared to the success of Rick Scott. Crist should buy a fan for the 832,000 Floridians who lost their jobs while he was governor.”
