In what is surely to be received as a breath of fresh air for the GOP, CNN’s most recently released poll on the nail-biter election for Mitch McConnell’s Kentucky Senate seat shows the Minority Leader with a 4-point lead over Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes.
With a 50-46 split, the difference is the same as the margin of error. So the McConnell campaign isn’t ready to celebrate anything yet.
Barack Obama’s approval rating is consistently at a dismal 33%, which reflects a national low average. McConnell’s campaign is pressing hard to tag Grimes with an Obama association in hopes it will continue to bring her numbers down.
Nevertheless, many analysts predict that an even race will ultimately fall in McConnell’s favor given the much higher voter engagement of Republicans versus Democrat voters.
