Former Governor of Missouri and Navy Seal veteran Eric Greitens has been an unapologetic supporter and defender of former President Trump.

He’s doubled down recently on national TV and radio programs, blasting the mainstream media for pushing the false narrative that there is no evidence of election fraud and criticizing Republicans who have turned their backs on Trump and don’t have the best interest of the American people in mind.

“You have to recognize that just because somebody has an ‘R’ behind their name does not mean that they are on the side of the American people… and even when you have a tremendous amount of support for President Trump in the state of Missouri that doesn’t mean Republicans are out there actually fighting for them,” Greitens said in a recent interview.

Many 2022 Republican Primaries have the potential to be contentious with Trump Republicans facing off against establishment Republicans, and Missouri is no exception.

Incumbent U.S. Senator Roy Blunt will be up for reelection next year. He’s recently taken heat from Trump supporters for criticizing the former president for his role in the Capitol riot and for skipping Democratic President Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Greitens said during a radio interview last week that he’s evaluating a challenge to U.S. Senator Roy Blunt next year. Greitens said that Blunt’s behavior made a run “something that I’m certainly going to keep the door open to and take a look at because the people of Missouri deserve a fighter.”

He continued, “It’s not enough for somebody to have an ‘R’ behind their name. We have to have people who are willing to take on the establishment and actually fight against ‘the Swamp’ on behalf of the people.”
