Vice President Mike Pence offered strong praise for Lt. Governor Brian Calley at the Michigan Republican Party Unity Rally Wednesday evening, calling him a “strong conservative and family man.”
Calley finished second behind Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette in the Michigan Republican Gubernatorial primary Tuesday.
Pence thanked Calley for his work turning around Michigan after former Governor Jennifer Granholm’s “lost decade.”
“I want to thank Lt Governor Calley-a strong conservative and family man, a man of deep conviction and faith,” Pence said. “For the job he has done for the people of Michigan, and for laying a foundation for a brighter future for all the people of this state.”
Governor Rick Snyder was not in attendance and says he is not endorsing Schuette at this time.
Schuette faces Democrat Gretchen Whitmer in the fall.
