It’s not often the liberal media punishes one of their own for lying about President Trump, but Brian Ross of ABC News told such a whopper last week in the wake of Gen. Michael Flynn’s arrest, ABC had no choice but to suspend Ross for 30 days.

Ross made false claims about what President Trump instructed Flynn to do regarding Russia, and no he’s paying the price.

Will the Ross suspension make other journalists with an agenda think twice before attacking President Trump with lies and phony smears?

According to the New York Times:Brian Ross, the chief investigative correspondent for ABC News, has been suspended for four weeks without pay after incorrectly reporting that Michael T. Flynn, the former national security adviser, would testify that President Trump had directed him to make contact with Russian officials while Mr. Trump was still a candidate, the network announced on Saturday.

Mr. Trump directed Mr. Flynn to make contact after the election, as president-elect, the network said.

ABC initially issued a clarification after Mr. Ross made the statement during a live broadcast on Friday but later called it a correction.

“We deeply regret and apologize for the serious error we made yesterday,” ABC said in a statement on Saturday. “The reporting conveyed by Brian Ross during the special report had not been fully vetted through our editorial standards process.”

Mr. Ross’s initial report, which he said was informed by a confidant of Mr. Flynn’s, would have been a bombshell revelation in the continuing investigation into whether Mr. Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia to interfere in the presidential election.”

Ross has made false claims before.
In 2001, he claimed evidence linked Saddam Hussein to the Anthrax attacks in America, while in fact, government officials believe the culprit was an American insider with access to top secret government facilities.
Ross also claimed in 2012 that the shooter in Aurora, Colorado who attacked a movie full of people was linked to a far right Tea Party organization. That report was false.
