Obama-Era “Clean Power Plan” to Be Repealed?

“The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will propose repealing the Clean Power Plan— the Obama administration’s centerpiece regulation to fight climate change—and plans to solicit input on a rule to replace it,” Reuters reports today.

Whether the administration will repeal the plan with our without a replacement policy also geared towards lowering power plant’s carbon emissions remains to be seen.

What is certain is that the President does not favor the plan, having signed an executive order in March of this past year directing the EPA to conduct a review of it, and having also “blamed former Democratic President Barack Obama’s efforts to cut carbon emissions for hurting the coal mining and oil drilling industries.”
