According to The Hill, the House of Representatives has scheduled a vote for October 3rd on a bill to prohibit performing abortions after 20 weeks, when some pro-life advocates say unborn children can feel pain.
The bill’s original sponsor is Arizona Congressman Trent Franks, but has well over a hundred other cosponsors. The same bill passed the House in 2015, but was voted down in the Senate. A similar result is likely this time around:
“The proposal will likely pass the House again, where Republicans have a large majority.
“But it will likely stumble in the Senate, where it needs at least 60 votes to pass. Republicans control 52 seats and most Democrats oppose the bill.”
