BREAKING: Ohio State Shooting, 10 Hospitalized

Developing now: A shooting has been reported on campus at Ohio State University . One suspect has been confirmed dead, while at least 10 people hospitalized.

Fox News reports, “There was no official word on whether a shooting had taken place, but a Columbus Fire Department official told Fox News that 10 people were transported to the hospital, with one in critical condition. The nature of the injuries was not immediately disclosed.

Law enforcement sources told The Columbus Dispatch that a car initially rammed Watts Hall, the location of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, about 9:40 a.m., and at least two people got out of the car.

One person had a gun, while the second appeared to have a large knife, according to the Dispatch.

There continues to be a massive law enforcement presense on campus, including a SWAT team and officers with long guns. Police also blocked off roads around the perimeter of the campus, clogging area traffic.

The school initially sent out a campuswide alert at 9:56 a.m. local time which read, “Buckeye Alert: Active Shooter on campus. Run Hide Fight. Watts Hall. 19th and College.””
