A new poll commissioned by Club For Growth Action shows Dr. Ben Carson has taken the lead over Donald Trump in Iowa. Dr. Carson grabs 21% of the vote to Trump’s 16%.
The group had recently spent $1 million “exposing” Trump, the group says.
According to a press release:
“Donald Trump is not a conservative, and that message is getting through in Iowa,” said Club for Growth President David McIntosh. “Club for Growth Action can’t take full credit. Trump’s stumbling and substance-free debate performance surely hurt him; but CFG Action’s ads have exposed the truth about his history of support for higher taxes, and his advocacy for single-payer health care, eminent domain, and bailouts.”
“That truth has erased Trump’s lead,” McIntosh said. “Club for Growth Action looks forward to expanding its advertising efforts as needed in Iowa and other states in the weeks and months ahead.”
The survey was conducted for Club for Growth Action by Basswood Research, a leading Republican polling firm, on October 3-4, 2015. It interviewed 500 likely GOP caucus voters, with a margin of error of +/- 4.4%.
