Update: NY Stock Exchange Set to Resume Trading after Outage

Trading at the New York Stock Exchange is set to resume shortly, NBC News reports.

Trading had halted around 11:30 EST, reportedly from a technical issue, not, as some feared, from a cyber attack.

From Business Insider:

According to CNBC, the halt started at 11:32 a.m. ET and was triggered by “technical issues.”

“We’re currently experiencing a technical issue that we’re working to resolve as soon as possible,” the NYSE said, according to CNBC….

The NYSE first started showing signs of strain at 10:32 this morning, but said the technical issue had been resolved. Then, once it started failing an hour later, it flailed in and out of connectivity before going out entirely.

NYSE later tweeted: “The issue we are experiencing is an internal technical issue and is not the result of a cyber breach.”

Good news, but a thorough investigation will certainly be conducted, especially important since WSJ.com and United Airlines both experienced computer issues at the same time as the outage at the stock exchange and considering that the hacker group Anonymous tweeted a mysterious message about Wall Street yesterday.
