Boehner Thinks Speaker Paul Ryan Should Be GOP Presidential Nominee

Former Speaker of the House John Boehner wants to stop Donald Trump, and he thinks he knows the perfect person to do just that.

According to Politico:

“Former Speaker John Boehner said Paul Ryan should be the Republican nominee for president if the party fails to choose a candidate on the first ballot.

“If we don’t have a nominee who can win on the first ballot, I’m for none of the above,” Boehner said at the Futures Industry Association conference here. “They all had a chance to win. None of them won. So I’m for none of the above. I’m for Paul Ryan to be our nominee.”

Wading into the GOP nominating battle for the first time since leaving office last fall, Boehner said that “anybody can be nominated” at the convention in Cleveland this summer.

Boehner, who now splits his time between Florida, Ohio and D.C., had long whispered to friends that he believes Ryan could be the party’s political savior if it came to that.”

  1. You stupid uninformed idiots! We, the people are behind Donald Trump. Ryan is a RINO. Pull your head out of your butt and get behind Donald Trump.

      • I defend your right to your opinion. I am reminded, however, of Mark Twain who said, “Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” Apparently, the shoe fits. Hope you enjoy wearing it.

  2. LOSER BOEHNER, CRY BABY BOEHNER, WHAT A RECOMMENDATION? THAT AS BAD AS THE DEVIL SAYING WE SHOULD ELECT HILLARY BECAUSE SHE IS THE MOST EVIL CANDIDATE

  3. My my, the Republican power brokers are showing their fear with Trump as it will affect their “sanctuary” of entitlements and special benefits controlling those we [the people] elect. It’s not up to them to select the nominee but the people. It’s simply time to exercise our constitutional rights in voting for the individual we want to lead. In short, and Robin Williams said it best: elected officials are like babies, when the “drawers” are full, replace them. It’s time to replace them regardless which party they affiliate themselves with and elect those that adhere to the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the Amendments, not who has the larger pocket book that feeds their personal gains at the expense of people.
