Washington D.C. first to mandate COVID vaccines for students

Muriel Bowser

The Mayor of Washington D.C. has imposed a vaccine mandate for all indoor activities, including all K-12 schools.

The order states that all people twelve years old and older must show proof of having at least one vaccine, starting on January 15, 2022, to enter private and public indoor facilities. This will be extended to require a fully vaccinated status starting on February 15.

Also, starting on March 1, 2022, eligible students must show proof of full vaccination status in order to attend school. This is the first mandate in the nation to require a COVID vaccine to attend school. This is despite the fact that D.C has only seen 25 confirmed case of the Omicron virus.
