President Trump and China’s President Xi Jinping had their first in-person meeting together and it looks like things are off to a good start. The President’s meeting made headway on trade issues and opportunities with China.
“The Financial Times reported China offered to drop the ban on American beef, in place since 2003, and offered to allow foreigners to have majority stakes in Chinese investment and securities companies.
The former concession from the Chinese would allow American cattle producers to have access to a massive new market, while the Financial Times reported the latter is something that was discussed under former President Barack Obama but was received positively by Trump last week,” Washington Examiner reports.
The President’s meeting took place at Mar-a-Lago in Florida over the course of two days. Afterwards, President Trump went to twitter to express his appreciation for President Xi and the progress made together.
…goodwill and friendship was formed, but only time will tell on trade.
