Yes, there really is a war on coal

The war on coal is not just political rhetoric, or a paranoid fantasy concocted by rapacious polluters. It’s real and it’s relentless. Over the past five years, it has killed a coal-fired power plant every 10 days. It has quietly transformed the U.S. electric grid and the global climate debate, POLITICO reports.

  1. The real enemy of coal is fracking of natural gas. That has made coal non-competitive in the market even if you ignore the costs of the environmental damage and extra pollutants it generates. You might just as well have been around a century ago to decry Henry Ford’s “War on Buggy Whips.”
